Just for a few claps or...?
West Bengal has found its new hero. Its new saviour. Its new messiah. He may be a bit on the heavier side. He may have deep bags under his eyes. But his lethal pronouncement today, threatening the miscreants in Nadia, has revivied his heroic image which he once used to enjoy in his heydays in the Tollywood industry. All of a sudden this morning I found Tapas pal doing some histronics on screen today in a leading english news channel. I was taken aback. I thought his wife has run away from home with all his property or something like that. I still remember the sight of the couple when they had come to see their daughter off in Fort Williams during our class 12 board examinations in Calcutta. And to my conclusion in a short engagement, his wife was not the most trustworthy lady on earth.Anyways,, so I was stunned for a moment...Tapas Pal and that too on national television. And then I got to know of his bravado!! Well, kudos to him for coming out in the open and openly challenging the ruling party. And that too taking up the lion's share of the responsibility.AND doing that in front of national media. AND whipping up all his guts to speak to the channel's correspondent and say that he doesnt regret his staements asking the locals to kill the rapists as the government has failed to take any actions. Well done! Not bad at all. So the footage was looped showing the erstwhile superstar speaking to the public animatedly (unfortunately, the TV sets in my office are kept on mute). And then he turned up in front of what I suppose is his building, very stylishly bending one of his legs and resting it on his car wheel and answering the reporter's queries. Good ! I was impressed. Even a few hours later when the latest buzz in Bengal politics was the sudden demise of CPM bigwig Subhash Chakraborty (Peace to him), the channel was playing the news.
Though the members of the opposition and the congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari thinly condemned the remarks, the brazen but bullish and brave attitude of pal was noticed unmistakably. With golden wristlets and golden chains dangling, he continuously and dramatically lalkaared the miscreants to come and fight him in total filmy style. "No rigrates no rigrates!" he literally screamed to the reporter when asked whether he regrets his remarks or not. Thats a good way of tackling things.
...And well, it sure gave him the credentials that he wanted! After mesmerizing (sic) people for years on screen and on stage, the thunder of claps should have been elixir for his ears. Just hope that the MP retains his promise and has not mouthed the dynamites, just to revive his old hero image or to garner a few cheers...
