The real Dhan te Nan...!!

“Maine ek baar commitment kar di, uske baad to main khud ki bhi nahin sunta..."

bang.plonk.whoosh.thunk. and the dhan te na-s

As the bare chested narrow eyed, gun wielding Salman Khan mouths this stunner, you feel the pulse of the movie. And you anticipate another ‘Garv’ in the making, with the single theater crowd going berserk over the lines and cheers follow, punctuated by endless and deafening seetis. Salman Khan is back in silver screen again after a long hiatus. Wanted’s promo is not only slick but fresh as well.

Though it looks like a regular masala action flick, it bores the element of revenge studding the theme. But it promises a lot of high voltage chic action, well choreographed stunts and some weird southern style camera angles (for those who swear by it)

The promo is fast paced and uses effective lightning techniques and audio effects to add prominence to the sneak peek. The editing is razor sharp and the scenes are well coordinated with the background score.

Needless to say, Salman Khan is the USP of the promo…or maybe rather Salman in an action role. Its evident all these years that his presence in a movie guarantees a huge initial if not a blockbuster. This time too, as the viewer catches a glimpse of Salman in silhouette, his close ups and in between deliberate obstructions in the form of either a flight of stairs or some intermittent visual pauses, you definitely cannot avoid the awe the promo creates. Along with it, a new pairing with bombshell Ayesha Takia also adds to the excitement.

A word about the texts used in the promo. The publicity design deserves kudos for it. Its very predictable yet stands out because all of a sudden you see a romantic hero doing what his fans wants to see him doing on screen-action.

My personal favourite is the scene where Salman throws an axe which seems to be directed to ayesha takia but misses her and hits a bad guy sneaking behind her. But then, there are other clips too which look awesome, given the packaging it has gone through. Like the one where the stud flexes his knuckles and the one where he does an aerial somersault in an effort to shoot somebody and the scene freezes.Or when the stud slides beneath an iron mast or runs nonchalantly on Mumbai streets.

The promo promises sufficient dishoom dishoom, masala, songs, dance and youthfulness. The way salman walks with a brazen and footloose attitude with a gun in hand effortlessly sets the plot and spirit of the entire movie and thus the promo succeeds in doing what it is supposed to do-tease us. And it does it well. Just hope the treatment shown in the promo continues throughout the movie.

On the flip side, Salman's dance steps are a shame. A non dancer, his dancing skills, if over utilised in the movie, can spell doom to his appeal.

But on the whole its a killer of a promo which is already creating humongous expectations from the film everywhere. I will go with a 8 out of 10 for the promo. Move over Shahid's Dhan te nan. Apna Sallu bhai is here.It surely leaves u with an anticipation, a thrill and make the movie...WANTED!!!
